Alfie has some new friends - 2 rescued hairless rats called Statler & Waldorf! Expect photos soon!
Spuggy is now reserved pending homecheck, so keep your fingers crossed for her.
Since I have no new photos of Alf on this computer, you’ll have to settle with one of lovely Apollo!

Promise there’ll be a photo update very soon! I assure you Alfie is very well!

(PS) The Ruffdogs Auction for Holly & JJ is now open - PLEASE check it out by clicking Ruffdogs at the top of this page!
I know a few of you have been wondering about Apollo, the Boxer with thyroid cancer being fostered by my Mum. Well, Apollo is doing really well and has fit in at my mum’s as if he’s always been there. He is no bother at all and is doing much better than expected… back up to a more normal weight and very happy. His tumour isn;t growing back as quickly as we thought - vets thought he had a maximum of a few months left but it looks like it may be a bit longer. Of course this is an unknown, he could have secondary tumours in any of his bodily organs, but for the timebeing he is doing really great.
Some recent photos:

On other topics, Spuggy still needs a home - no interest at all! - and we are still looking for things to sell in our fundraiser for Holly & JJ!

We have a new addition! She needs a really good home so please sperad the word.
Spuggy is an 8 week old female crossbreed puppy. We are unsure of what breeds may be in her, but she certainly has Staffie in there and possibly Lurcher too. Spuggy is currently being fostered by myself and is looking for a new forever home.

Spuggy is VERY playful and energetic once settled in. She loves to play with other dogs and toys, and easily gets overexited. She is ok with cats, she will chase them and try to play with them but does back off once swiped at in return (my cats are great at “cat testing” fosters!).
We are currently working on puppy mouthing and hassling us at meal times, but she is very quick to learn and is improvng already. She is also learning about sleeping in a crate and is clean in her crate overnight. She is learning pretty quickly with housetraining, though she is at the moment quite nervous of the outdoors (this is due to a traumatic experience before she came to us - she was found terrified beside a busy road at night).

Her new home will ideally have someone around most of the time, at least initially, and there must be a commitment to ongoing socialisation & training. She would love to live with another young & active dog, and will require plenty of exercise once she is grown up.
Adoption contract will apply - Spuggy must be speyed before her first season (so at 6 months of age), and any prospective home will be homechecked. Spuggy has started her vaccinations, but is currently suffering from kennel cough.
Please email me if you might be interested in offering Spuggy a good forever home : emma@ruffdogs.co.uk
Alfie would like you all to read the story of two friends of his, dogs that really need help to get back on their four paws, like he did. We are fundraising for them on Ruffdogs.
——————————————————————————-
Holly is a gorgeous and elderly Chinese Crested Dog, being fostered by a friend of mine. Her time was up in the pound and she was saved. She needs a few treatments - blood tests, a few growths need to be removed, and she may lose one of her eyes. Her vet bill will certainly run into the hundreds.
———————————————————————————–
JJ is a X-Retriever puppy in the care of 4 Paws & More Rescue, run by member flukespad here. JJ has badly deformed ears and needs to go for a special scan at the RCV, to find out how deformed they are on the inside and whether what little hearing he has can be saved. Whatever the results, he will need some kind of surgery to fix his ears as the way they are at the moment means they are infected. He is in a great foster home but needs as much dosh towards his vet bill as possible - it will be minimum of £1000.

Ruffdogs will be hosting another of it’s fundraising auctions, which has successfully raised thousands of pounds in the past.
You can donate directly to this fundraiser by Paypal to emma@ruffdogs.co.uk or by cheque/postal order/bank transfer into Alfie’s charity account.
All money raised will go towards Holly & JJ’s veterinary costs. Any messages or anything else can be emailed to the address above.
Thanks

Alfie LOVED the snow we had last week! Here he is with his big sis Asha and big bro Elliot…
And a couple of my handsome boys looking gorgeous… Alfie & Elliot
For anyone thinking of Apollo, he is doing very well and enjoying life in his foster home being spoilt.
Alfie will be 9 months old on the 15th of December and is very much looking forward to the future - he will be old enough to be assessed as a therapy dog soon, and of course he is VERY much looking forward to what Santa Paws might bring.
Alfie hugs to you all <3
Hi all,
All still really well here with us all.
Alfie now pretty good at 10 commands/tricks - he’s a smart pup when he puts his mind to something!
He’s very much looking forward to snow but we haven’t had more than a thin covering yet - let it snow!
Alfie’s friends at WOOF BEGINNINGS are holding a great Christmas Auction, starting today, to raise money for more dogs in need, just like Alfie. There’s some FAB items up for grabs so to take a look, click on the link to Woof Beginnings in Alfie’s Sponsors. Alfie has even donated a couple of items himself, that he didn’t need any more.
I got a new tattoo to represent my four lovely doggies, now that I have four! What do you think?
Alfie has a new friend, a terminally ill Boxer called Apollo being fostered by my Mum. He has cancer and probably doesn’t have long with us but we are making the time he does have left as enjoyable as possible, and Alfie would like you all to spare a thought for him this Christmas - not all dogs are as lucky as him and poor Apollo didn’t have any friends at all up until last week.
And finally, a new photo of the Alf-Man himself, taken just now. He now weighs almost 18kg.
We can’t believe 2008 is almost over - what a year!
